Cardholders must be aware of goods and services that may NOT be purchased with a bluCard, or that require special Approval. (See the Restricted Items and the Special Handling pages in the Procurement Services section of this website.)

bluCard

Other items that may not be purchased with the bluCard are:

• Goods or services for personal use
• Cash advances or cash-back purchases
• Maintenance or gas for fleet vehicles
• Utilities bills
• Goods and services from any University of California office or department, including University Press, University Extension, and Scholars' Workstation, except for International House, Alumni House, the Faculty Clubs (for the rental of meeting rooms), and Cal Student Store
• Service payments to individuals

The commodities listed below are not restricted as long as prior approval and selection is obtained:

• Biological safety cabinets
• Chemical fume hoods
• First aid kits, unless they have been reviewed by Occupational Health Clinic at the University Health Services Glove boxes
• HEPA filtered clean benches
• Refrigerators & freezers need approval if they go into a building that contains a chemical laboratory, whether or not they go into the laboratory. (For types of refrigerators please review EH&S fact sheet .)
• Self-contained eyewash facilities
• Toxic gases as defined by the Campus Toxic Gas Program.
   

Event Planner Card

The following goods and services CANNOT be purchased with an Event Planner Card:

• Personal Travel Expenses (lodging, meals, rental car, etc.)
• Cash advances or cash-back purchases
• Inventorial Equipment
• Gift Certificates
• Service payments to individuals

Travel Study Card

The following goods and services CANNOT be purchased with a Travel Study Card:

• Personal Travel Expenses (lodging, meals, rental car, etc.)
• Cash advances or cash-back purchases
• Inventorial Equipment
• Gift Certificates
• Service payments to individuals
