bluCard Training Requirements
Pursuant to Bus 43, Part 8, the cardholder must complete cardholder training prior to receiving the card. Additionally, the cardholder must demonstrate understanding of their responsibilities to efficiently perform their duties and responsibilities as delegated to them by the department's Authorized Signer. This will be done by completing 80% of assessment questions at the end of each training eCourse prior to receiving a bluCard.
Also required is an annual refresher course. You will be notified by bluCard Administration when it’s time for you to take a refresher course or you may mark your calendar if you wish to be proactive in fulfilling this requirement.
New Cardholder Training
Before a bluCard can be issued, the prospective Cardholder must complete new cardholder training. You can access online training via the UC Learning Center, accessible through http://blu.berkeley.edu. Please note that you must complete both the BFSv9 bluCard 'Basics' (course code: BEPRO100-062410) AND the BFSv9 bluCard 'Process' (course code: BEPRO200-062410) training modules.
After successfully completing the eCourse and the assessment questions, you must notify bluCard Administration. Once your application is processed, your bluCard will be distributed to you along with instructions on how to activate your card and complete the cardholder agreement form.
After receiving the bluCard, the cardholder must keep the card and account number secure at all times. The department's Authorized Signer is responsible for ensuring that proper internal security procedures are in place. Only the cardholder is delegated authority to make purchases with the card; it is NOT a "department card". Each cardholder is required to read, understand, and sign the Individual bluCard Delegation & Agreement at the time they receive their bluCard.
Departmental staff who Reconcile or Approve procurement card purchases, and those needing a refresher course, should also take the eCourse trainings.
