Department Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the state contract for new vehicle purchases
  • Inform Fleet Services of vehicles:
    • newly acquired
    • transferred
    • disposed of
    • taken outside of California
    • operated in an unusual manner or location
  • Obtain preventative maintenance and safety inspections every 6 months and smog certification every other year
  • Complete all repairs required to ensure that all vehicles are safe
  • Forward all maintenance records and other relevant documents to Fleet Services
  • Ensure that vehicles are used on University business and drivers possess valid California licenses
